Highland may see new businesses soon
The empty field on the northwest corner of the main intersection in Highland may soon contain a Walgreens, Checker Auto and Arctic Circle. These were the names of potential businesses considering a location in the new Highland Marketplace shopping center that were bandied around in a three-hour work session held by the Highland City Council recently.
PISTONS CORNER: Billups' prognosis unsure
Point guard Chauncey Billups won't get any official word about the severity of his right calf strain until Tuesday, after swelling subsides and he can undergo an MRI. But coach Flip Saunders offered a glimmer of hope that the prognosis might not be as bad as the team announced earlier. On Friday, the Pistons said Billups would miss up to a fortnight.
Three recovering from seperate New Year shootings
Shreveport police had two, unrelated shooting cases on their hands less than two hours after midnight. At 1:25am, police say a fight broke out inside the Disco 9000 at the corner of Hollywood and Jewella. Police arrested Dennis Whirlpool of Shreveport for shooting a woman in the chest.

Developer plans retail center on South Side
